Sicilian apple cake

  • 75 g of flour
  • 1 tsp. Baking powder for dough
  • 50 ml of milk
  • 60 g of butter
  • 0.5 kg of green apples
  • 1 egg
  • 1 raw egg yolk
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla sugar
  • 125 g of granulated sugar
  • 25 g of peeled walnuts
  • 25 g of peeled pine nuts
  • 60 g dried figs
  • Peel and juice of 1 lemon

Ingredients for sprinkling

  • 25 g of peeled pine nuts
  • 0.5 tsp. Cinnamon
  • 25 g of sugar


  1. Cut the peeled apples into slices and sprinkle them with lemon juice so that they do not darken. Add to them a lemon zest and finely chopped dried figs.
  2. Mix sugar, egg and raw yolk, beat with a mixer until the sugar dissolves completely. Add here soft butter and milk.
  3. Mix flour with vanilla sugar and baking powder. Enter the flour mixture into the egg and stir well. Add apples, figs, nuts to the dough.

    Cedar nuts can be replaced with soaked in waterFor a day with raw walnuts, raw peanuts or raw peeled almonds. Soaked nuts are much sweeter and easier to digest, in consistence reminiscent of cedar.
